“The best minds of my generation are spent trying to make people click ads. That sucks.” — Jeffrey Hammerbacher, founder of Cloudera, on why he left Facebook.
We are Toronto’s best kept secret— a company of intelligent, creative and driven technology professionals working for civic and social good.
We are passionate about making public libraries accessible, delightful and engaging. A lot of companies tout ‘social impact’, but at BiblioCommons we serve 6 million diverse users each month, helping them access the library’s collections and services in their communities. Libraries are more than just book stacks — they are public spaces that foster learning, connection, and community in an increasingly isolated world. BiblioCommons is bringing that community online with clever software that powers some of the world’s largest libraries.
We solve big, hairy, interesting technical challenges everyday. With 6 million monthly users in 4 countries, we build software that is user-friendly for a multitude of ages and demographics at a massive scale, and we’re looking for a design leader to join our team.
Head of Design
Libraries are some of North America’s architectural marvels — gorgeous, carefully thought-through spaces for learning. It’s time the online spaces for libraries lived up to their physical counterparts— and that’s where you come in.
As the Head of Design, you will foster a design-focused culture at BiblioCommons, working cross-functionally with the product and engineering leadership on vision and strategy. Libraries are unique, and our software needs to be accessible to a wide range of users including folks who are differently abled and have low literacy.
We are looking for a person, not a checklist. Below is an outline of the types of experience we’d like you to have.
BiblioCommons is an equal opportunity employer. Accommodations are available upon request to support your participation during all stages of the recruitment process.
